Waunarlwydd 26 - 5 Ammanford

Waunarlwydd putting the wrongs from last weeks performance right to claim solid win over Ammanford.

Skies grew dark and the heavens opened to make conditions wetter than an otters pocket upon kick off. Despite the conditions both teams began by showing intent to move the ball, which set the stage for an entertaining game. First try came from Waunarlwydd backs breaking the line with a well worked move, resulting in Jamie Rose powering over the try line from 8yds out with a great leg drive which Lee Evans converted. Another midfield move seeing Waun 10 Nick Jones into space on the half way line feeding Alex Tragembo to go over making the score 12 - 0. Ammanford hit back with a good catch and drive from a line out inside the Waun 22, Ammanford retained the ball well, then went wide creating an overlap to make the score 12 - 5. Waun 8 Nathan Hart controlled the ball extremely well at the base of the scrum all game, which was made more difficult by the fact it was often on the back foot. If Ammanford won the battle upfront Waunarlwydd won the battle of the back row, with Nathan and Marcus Beasly going well but James Cleary looking impressive in the loose. It was Cleary's offload from a good slip pass by Lee Evans which saw the impressive Dan Moyle score with Lee Evans converting.

Half time Waunarlwydd 19 - 5 Ammanford

Waunarlwydd back three needed improvements from last weeks performance, and did so well. Improvements in defence, but especially in attack which saw Sam Pridgeon going 60yds with an exciting break exemplifying their efforts. Waun scrum half Lee Evans scored an opportunistic try, pouncing on the ball which squirted out the back of the Ammonford scrum, finishing from 30yds. Dan Moyle Waun second row had an impressive game,  popping up in support whenever a break was made and carrying well throughout. Ammanford finished the game strongly, starting a move from their own 22 showing great continuity but, unable to make an overlap count which would have been an excellent team try if the final pass had gone to hand.

Good exciting performance from Waunarlwydd who were strong in attack and defence, showing great handling in heavy rain. Ammanford also looking a good side, losing 2 players, 15 Iwan Mainwaring and 10 Stefano Price-Griffiths to injury in the early stages of the game making things difficult.
